Accordion Festival in Catalonia was such an experience
Well i've just returned from the Cap de Setmana Diatonic - a festival of the Button Accordion in the beautiful surroundings of Mont-Roig Del Camp - a 17th Century building atop a mountain just a stones throw from Salou.
Our first impressions of the festival were in relation to the view and the venue - but in terms of cultural experiences, it was absolutely fantastic. Having the opportunity to share tunes, and musical ideas with accordion players from completely different genres and musical worlds was just incredible.
Its one of those special experiences that i'm sure i'll look back on in years to come as one which will have had a profound effect on my music.
I will be back there for sure!!!!!!!
Winner of the DPA Microphones competition
I'm absolutely stunned to announce that the video I entered to DPA for their #INeedADvote4099 competition was chosen as the first winner meaning that DPA are sending me 2 of their amazing d:vote 4099 microphones and the incredible d:vice audio interface!
Those of you who are musicians will probably know that DPA are the makers of the finest clip on microphones and are used by most of the leading musicians in the world.
This recording kit will hopefully play a key role in the next big project which is to record a debut Paddy Callaghan Album. Plans are already well underway for this project and this exciting surprise from DPA Microphones has cranked the excitement levels up even further!
I've had an amazing time being a musician and over the past 5 years or so i've shared many great highs and also lows. The music industry can be an incredibly rewarding place to work but it can also be very tough and we all do what we can to make it work.
For me, that meant joining a number of bands and collaborating on music that I absolutely gave 100% to, but music that ultimately was not fully my own. Whilst this afforded me the opportunity to see much of the world and gain lots of experience of recording, touring, and meet so many great people, there has always been something at the back of my head saying 'But imagine if it was my own music....'
With that in mind, I'm changing my focus in terms of where I want to be musically - and it very much involves me playing the music that I want to share with you. There are lots of really exciting projects in the pipeline and i'll let you know about them in due course - I plan to (finally) record my first solo album, there are a few really cool tours on the horizon - it's something that I really can't wait to get stuck in to and kick on!
Don't worry, it doesn't mean i'm not going to be playing with anyone else ever again - the musicians I collaborate with are unbelievable and I look forward to doing so in the near and not so near distant future, but for now, my priority is my own music so watch this space!
Its been a little over 5 years since I first launched this website, so I felt the time was right to give it a little update in terms of the look and feel of the website but also the content.
As time has gone on, my musical career has evolved in to different genres and markets and also the types of groups and individuals I have been collaborating with has changed too.
Anyways, I hope you like the new look! if you have any suggestions or questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
